Myaku Myaku Meets the EXPO 2027 Mascots – Friendship at First Sight
At the Serbian Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka today, mascots from two host cities—Expo 2027 Belgrade and Expo 2025 Osaka—came together for a joyful encounter. In a friendly and cheerful atmosphere, the Serbian mascots met the beloved Japanese character Myaku Myaku, a creature that has become the star of the World Expo in Japan.

Myaku Myaku is a curious and charming being, born from water and cells, with the ability to change its shape and embody the symbolism of life and connection. Its name comes from the Japanese onomatopoeia “myaku myaku,” which represents a heartbeat—emphasizing the flow of life, the rhythm of togetherness, and the continuity between past, present, and future. With its endearing appearance and slightly clumsy walk, Myaku Myaku has already captured the hearts of people across Japan—and now had the chance to meet its “colleagues” from Serbia.

Dressed in costumes inspired by Serbian tradition and the spirit of play, the Expo 2027 Belgrade mascots quickly bonded with Myaku Myaku, showing how universal languages—like smiles, play, and creativity—can transcend cultural differences. This warm exchange of playful emotions drew the attention of pavilion visitors, especially the youngest ones, who were eager to take photos with the mascots.

The mascot gathering in Osaka symbolically reflects what Expo 2027 aims to offer the world—a space for dialogue, encounters, and joy, where diverse cultures connect through the universal values of play, humanity, and the shared creation of a better future. At the same time, this encounter sends a strong message to the public in Serbia: the country is rapidly preparing to become the next meeting point for the world, a place where the spirit of Expo will live on through innovation, culture, and architecture.

Serbia’s superheroes of play for humanity—who will carry on Myaku Myaku’s mission of global connection in 2027—are still awaiting their names. Just a few days ago, the first round of voting was completed, and nine name pairs have entered the second round: Rastko & Milica, Sava & Nada, Beo & Bela, Momčilo & Tamara, Viktor & Ada, Miha & Nika, Zvrk & Čigra, Zmaj & Lira, and Eci & Peci.

As time goes on, more and more people are joining the voting game to help choose the names that will go down in the history of international exhibitions. Voting for your favorite pair of Expo 2027 mascots is open until September and can be done with just a few clicks on the official Expo 2027 websitev.

Photos and videos from the Serbian Pavilion in Osaka are being widely shared on social media, further promoting Belgrade and Serbia as exciting destinations of the future. With this friendly gesture from Osaka, Expo 2027 has received the perfect prologue—one built on play, smiles, and connection.
