Expo 2027 as a Turbo Platform for Growth and Networking: Insights from the 3rd Regional Business Conference “Building Futures”

Lean in. Don't wait to be introduced. Come there, bring your business cards, your technology, your efficiency, and join together to really make things happen,” said Lord Kulveer Ranger, Chair of the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, sharing one of his key messages to Serbian companies regarding their potential participation at Expo 2027.

At the 3rd UK–Western Balkans regional business conference Building Futures, participants had the opportunity to hear Lord Ranger’s inspiring reflections on the economic ties between Serbia and the United Kingdom, as well as on the major events that lie ahead—most notably Expo 2027 Belgrade and the GITEX AI Summit.

During the summit, Lord Ranger described Expo as a “super-duper” networking opportunity, with 8,000 events across 93 days, making it a truly unparalleled meeting point. Expo 2027, he emphasised, is the kind of place where you want to show up—to meet people, talk business, showcase your offer, present innovations, meet clients, customers, companies, and build those trusted partnerships.

According to him, Expo 2027 not only has the potential to reshape Serbia’s economic landscape—it is already doing so. Drawing on his experience organising the London 2012 Olympic Games, he noted that the key impact did not come from the ten weeks, ten days of the Olympics themselves, but it were the years of the preparation: the infrastructure built, the improved transport links, the regeneration of East London. These pre-event developments, he said, created long-lasting legacy of facilities and investments that continued to benefit the city and its citizens for years to come, and in this case to the benefit of the citizens of Serbia.

He highlighted that in case of Expo 2027, similar developments are already clearly visible, from the construction of infrastructure to the expansion of highways and railway lines. These improvements, he noted, will be crucial for citizens in the years ahead, becoming part of everyday services that form the Expo legacy.

He also mentioned that he recently visited Dubai during GITEX, the world’s largest technology event, just as the announcement was made that Serbia will host the GITEX AI Summit. Speaking about the atmosphere, he described a powerful wave of excitement and innovation that GITEX is brininging-from the latest achievements in robotics, drones, and flying cars to cutting-edge technological solutions. He emphasised that this same spirit will be present at GITEX Serbia and throughout Expo 2027. He concluded that this clearly shows Serbia standing confidently on the global stage, demonstrating world-leading technologies and bringing inspiration and excitement to people.
